The indi game art scene has a particular simplicity and look to it. Often pixel art, but sometimes basic 3d but also looking like hand drawn. I am looking forward to learning how to make more art with some of the online courses I purchased with GameDev.tv which are focused on Blender and Asprite.

Digital art luckily can come in many forms. Sometimes art can be had drawn on paper and then scanned and animated. Or an art pad with a digital pen, with some of them being a full touchscreen to make the art on.

With the art studio here, you can see the process of making art. Its almost like the artist is inside and outside with all the windows.

One exciting feature of digital art is layers and learning how to do parallax backgrounds and then hone in on day night cycles to those different layers.

With it being so easy to make art with AI, and even make real videos of it, getting motivation to do art “the old way” is an uphill battle.

With software tools like Asprite basic pixel art can be made into animations, think a looping image. With basic shape art like Ed Emberley art forms, animation might be a good first step.
